geHi my name is George; this is my first blog about my journey through my work placement here at Adur & Worthing Councils. On my first day of my work placement it was absolutely chucking it down, I turned up soaked through (great start) – I was fairly nervous and excited for my first day.

When I arrived I had a chat with Siobhan who leads on the Work Placement programme and went through the formalities. Siobhan hooked me up with a laptop and I started to familiarise myself with the login, e-mails, websites, printers etc.

I then met with Mel, who is the Neighbourhood Manager, who I will be helping with the I.T Junction programme while I am here. I was also introduced to Tony and Kim (Sussex Learning Solutions who support the programme too) we had a lovely chat and it was really good to meet them. Mel and I then retreated back to the office – we did have a laugh stomping through the puddles.

The storm made my first day very memorable (even though I turned up looking like a drowned rat). I went home with a smile on my face to a nice hot bath.

My first week has been fantastic; everyone has been really nice to me and so far I’m enjoying the work placement very much, looking forward to visiting the I.T venues and meeting the volunteers there soon.’
